The Initial Consultation:
When you are thinking of building a home, I sit down with you and answer your questions about building. We brainstorm your ideas and I write down every last detail. Since I design the home for you, it is important to me that we address all aspects of your home (budget, exterior look, size, number of bedrooms, baths, home style, etc.). I listen to your ideas and ask questions that many people don't think of: stairway placement, trim finishing, island vs. peninsula in the kitchen, etc. Many homebuyers bring me photos of features they like in homes they've seen in magazines- that's extremely helpful to me! This is a fun meeting, where we dream of all the possibilities for your new home! After the meeting, I type up notes on the meeting and e-mail them to you for approval. I try to be very thorough and communicate with you every step of the way.
Designing Your Home:
I help you design your home, taking all of your ideas, requirements, hopes, dreams & budget into consideration. Once I feel confident that the design is perfect for you, we meet to discuss any changes you would like to make. The changes are made, put it on Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and present it to you for approval. If you approve of the plan, we're on to the next step! This process can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on the number of changes I need to make. I don't mind doing several drafts of your plan to get the it 100% perfected.
Once all bids are in, we'll meet one last time for your homebuilding presentation. I will present your plan, allowances and selections.
We then sign a purchase agreement, take a small builder's deposit and I buy your chosen lot. From the moment we break ground to the day you move in,
it takes between four to six months to build your home, depending on weather and availability of materials.
What Are Standard Features in Every Wycoff Custom Home?
Wycoff Custom Homes builds custom homes. What that means is that the home is designed for you, the customer, down to every last detail.
Because the home is designed for you, your plan is never replicated. Your home is one of a kind, entirely your creation.
Unlike many builders, I prefer not to stock "Home Plan A", "Home Plan B", and "Home Plan C." I do have plans on hand to offer you as an
example and to get the process started, of course. But, since your style is unique, I feel it wouldn't do you justice to offer a "cookie cutter" plan.
I do insist on offering certain upgrades as standard procedure. Some of the upgrades you can count on, unless otherwise requested, for your home are as follows:
Built-ins:
I'm proud to offer built ins per my customers needs and desires, such a cubbies in your mudroom, built in shelving, etc.

Basement Finishing: If you elect to finish your basement, I will finish it like the rest of your home. This includes extra-wide baseboard, the same window & door trim and drywall ceilings (not paneled). If you choose not to finish your basement, I will rough-in for a bathroom for future finishing. All basements will have at least one Egress Window.
Time Capsules: Each Homeowner receives a Time Capsule to fill with whatever they would like. I place the Time Capsule under the stairs for future homeowners to find. I believe that my homes are going to be so well-built that in 100 years they will be worthy of renovating. At that time, future generations will be able to learn more about how the home was built and a little about the original owners. In most cases, my clients like to include a family photo & a letter to the future homeowners reflecting the excitement of having a custom home built for them. Children also are invited to participate by drawing pictures of the house to be included in the capsule.
Memory DVD:
I routinely take photos and video footage of the building of your home. I edit the footage, set it to music and give it to you in the form of a DVD. I hope that you'll watch it with family and friends for years to come and remember one of the most exciting times of your life.
